PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mixing treating apparatus for organic waste which prevents runaway, stagnation, or the like, of a stirring traveler which travels while stirring an object to be teated in a stirring treating tank on the open stirring treating tank and is made to be used safely. SOLUTION: The object P to be treated is subjected to drying treatment while being stirred by the stirring traveler 10 which travels back and forth over the stirring treating tank 1 having an upper part opening structure in which the object P to be treated such as the organic waste is charged and stored. The stirring traveler 10 is provided with a control mechanism 41. The control mechanism 41 has a stagnation/ runaway detecting means 44 which, when the traveling speed of the stirring traveler 10 itself is late as compared to an allowable speed, detects that the stirring traveler is stagnated, tries an escape operation of the stirring traveler 10, and when the escape is unsuccessful, stops the traveling and, on the other hand, when the traveling speed is fast, detects that the stirring traveler is runaway and stops the traveling of the stirring traveler 10. In addition, the control mechanism 41 has a derailment detecting means 43 which detects that the stirring traveler 10 itself is lifted out of the stirring treating tank 1 and exceeds a prescribed vertical interval and stops the traveling of the stirring traveler 10.
