The present invention offers agent for the treatment of potable water as well as for improving their quality and taste. The mentioned agent comprises composition of natural minerals produced from reef corals, including sango-type corals, by grinding their skeleton carcass. The treating and quality improving effect of offered agent having antibacterial activity are characterised in that the potable water is saturated with ions of calcium, magnesium and trace elements by simultaneous bonding residues' chlorine in water and increasing their pH to 8.5. Said agent for the treatment of potable water and for improving their quality could additionally contain colloidal silver as element for intensifying antibacterial activity of coral material. The mentioned agent as powder may be delivered in bags (1 g packing). Each packing is sufficient for treatment and for making richer with minerals of 1 to 2 litre potable water.
