摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct the accuracy of a workpiece supplied with a gear shape previously, given in a short time in the grinding work for the tooth surface of an external gear. SOLUTION: The tooth surface of the workpiece 3 is ground by rotating an external gear workpiece 3 mounted at the end of a spindle 12 in mesh with an internal gear-shaped grinding wheel 2 and driving one to move forward and backward to the other in the axial direction while keeping them turned together. The spindle 12 has a set screw 14 for producing a change in fastening force in mounting the workpiece 3. Even when the workpiece lower in accuracy brings about difficulty in centering and possibly causes a working time to be very long depending on the condition of the alignment with the spindle 12, automatic centering can be performed by first gentle mounting of the workpiece 3 which effects the pushing force of the workpiece 3 on the tooth surface to push the tooth surface toward the center of the spindle 12. As a result, the center of the workpiece 3 with reference to the tooth surface is aligned with the center of the spindle 12. Then, the workpiece is strongly fastened and held for grinding work.
