PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speedily lower the temperature of cooked rice to an ordinary temperature. SOLUTION: A body 3 of a rice cooker is provided with a fan 16 for cooling a rice cooking pot 2 through a protecting frame 6, a control means (microcomputer) is provided with a cooling control function for cooling the inside of the rice cooking pot 2 by operating the fan 16 and, after the end of rice cooking control or in the state of performing warmth retaining control, cooling control can be selectively performed. Besides, the protecting frame 6 is equipped with a resin made protecting frame, body 7 and an inner body 8 arranged on the upper part of the resin made protecting frame body 7, a warmth retaining heating means is provided with a lid heater 33 arranged on a lid body 24 and a body heater 9 arranged on the inner body 8, and the control means is configured to stop the operation of the body heater 9 and to operate only the lid heater 33 when performing cooling control.
