PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool for effectively suppressing the vibration of a structure to be generated during the movement of a moving body respective to the structure with a driving system and keeping the gravity center of a whole relative movement portion always constant. SOLUTION: The machine tool comprises a spindle head 15 linearly movable on a saddle 10 via a sliding or rolling guide member 16 and a ball screw 17 for moving the spindle head 15 along the guide member 16. Sliding or rolling guide recessed portions 26 parallel to the guide member 16 are provided on both sides of the guide member 16 and counterweights 25 are provided thereon to be linearly movable on the guide recessed portions 26 in the direction opposite to that of the spindle head 15. Racks 28a, 28b are provided on the mutual opposed faces of each of the counterweights 25 and the spindle head 15 along the moving directions of the spindle head 15 and each of the counterweights, and pinions 27a, 27b in mesh with these racks 28a, 28b are pivotally supported on the saddle 10. |
