PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hollow fiber membrane module in which the amount of waste to be removed when a hollow fiber membrane element is exchanged owing to the clogging of a hollow fiber membrane can be reduced. SOLUTION: This hollow fiber membrane module is provided with the hollow fiber membrane element having such a structure that one end of a bundle of hollow fiber membranes to be inserted into a case is formed into an opened and adhesively fixed terminal and the other end is formed into a closed and fixed terminal or a U-shaped terminal and both terminals are connected to each other by a stay, a module vessel in which the hollow fiber membrane element is housed detachably and a flexible sealing material for sealing the hollow fiber membrane element and the module vessel liquid-tightly.
