PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric hot-water heater in which an energy saving effect is improved by insulating heat even in a high temperature portion with high adhesion and high performance in the electric hot-water heater applied with heat insulation by porous gel. SOLUTION: This electric hot-water heater is provided with a heater body forming an outer casing, a container for storing hot water and a heater for heating water in this container for storing water, the container is fixed on the heater body on a spout, and a side heat insulator is located between the side face of the container and the heater body. Then, an upper heat insulator is located in the inside or on the upper part of the container, and the lower end of the upper heat insulator is located in a position lower than the upper end of the side heat insulator. Thus, since a thermal gap between the side heat insulator and the upper heat insulator can be eliminated, the leakage of heat is reduced and the electric hot-water heater in which warmth retaining power is small can be provided.
