PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positioning device allowing highly accurate positioning of workpiece such as front pillar lower inners at given places in an engine compartment. SOLUTION: Positioning recessed portions 151-153 are provided at three places on a carriage 15. Positioning protruded portions 29-31 are provided at places on a handling robot 20 corresponding to the positioning recessed portions 151-153 at three places, and workpiece holding members 38, 39 mutually approachable and isolable are also provided thereat. Fixed pins 46, 47 and movable pins 48, 49 provided on the workpiece holding members 38, 39 are inserted into holes 184, 185 in the front pillar lower inners 18a, 18b and the positioning protruded portions 29-31 are inserted into the positioning recessed portions 151-153 for positioning. The workpiece holding members 38, 39 are mutually isolated in positioning the front pillar lower inners 18a, 18b at the given places.
