Retractable multiple band antenna for cellular telephone

The antenna comprises a whip antenna selectively connected to a matching network. There is a helical antenna with an elongated conductor formed as a spiral with a first section and a second section. The first spiral section has one pitch angle and the second spiral section has another pitch angle, different from the first. The pitch angles are selected to tune the helical antenna to a second resonant frequency.
