<p>PURPOSE:To record/reproduce a high definition TV signal and a standard TV signal by the same device system by making a valid line number of a high- definition TV signal twice the valid line number of a standard TV signal through the interleave processing using a digital filter or the like, executing processing to a block of horizontal 8 picture elements X vertical 8 lines and applying coding to the block by orthogonal transformation or the like. CONSTITUTION:When an input high-definition HDTV signal adopts the 1125/60 system, picture elements and lines are interleaved by using a digital filter or the like, line sequence processing is executed as to a color difference signal to form a brightness signal of 1440 picture elements X 960 lines and a color difference signal of 720 picture elements X 480 lines. Then DCT block processing of 8 picture elements X 8 lines is executed by the block processing means and then an orthogonal transformation means executes DCT orthogonal transformation in the unit of DCT blocks. Thus, the information quantity after coding of an HDTV signal is doubled with respect to that of a standard TV signal and the HDTV signal and the standard TV signal are recorded/ reproduced by the same device system.</p> |
