PURPOSE: A slab width sensing apparatus for transfer car is provided to prevent falling accident of the slabs during transferring the slabs using lift crane by measuring width of a pair of slabs transferred by the transfer car and having workers recognize the deviation in case that deviation of the width of the slabs is large. CONSTITUTION: The slab width sensing apparatus for transfer car comprises a moving part comprising a moving plate installed inside the transfer car for moving slabs, a driving motor installed at the center of the upper surface of the moving plate, a screw shaft rotated by receiving rotary power of the driving motor, and a support bar installed at both sides of the screw shaft in such a way that the support bar is moved to the center of the transfer car; a sensing part (30) comprising an oil cylinder (31) installed so that it is moved along with the support bar, and a touch bar (33) installed at the rod of the oil cylinder (31) and contacted with the side surface of upper and lower slabs; and a control part (40) comprising a pair of operating cylinders (42) installed on the upper surface of a fixed plate so that the operating cylinders (42) are operated by oil discharged from the oil cylinder (31) along the width of the slabs sensed in the sensing part (30), a connection part connected between the rod of the operating cylinders (42), and an output means (50) installed at the center of the connection bar in such a way that the output means (50) is moved on the upper surface of the fixed plate.
