PURPOSE: A method for transmitting a message of an instant messenger is provided to transmit instant message even though the client is not logged-on the messenger program by transmitting a log-on guide message to a log-off client in real time. CONSTITUTION: A user registers a PC as an instant messenger client(SP1). The user judges the log-on state of a counter instant messenger client to transmit the message(SP2). If the counter instant messenger client is logged on, the message is transmitted. If not, the guide message requesting the log-on is transmitted to an instant messenger server(SP5). The instant messenger server transmits the guide message as an SMS to a cellular phone registered by the counter instant messenger client(SP6).
