PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the localization of pixel dislocation at a specific portion in a composite image even if the size of an overlapping area between images joined together varies because of optical distortions in each split image, using an image processing apparatus. SOLUTION: A first and second characteristic point are set at distant points within the overlapping area (S2) and the final amount of dislocation reflecting the amount of dislocation between the two characteristic points is calculated (S5). Based on the final amount of dislocation, a reference image and an image to be searched are combined (S6). Thus, even if the size of the overlapping area varies between the reference image and the image to be searched due to optical deflections in the images, it is made possible to prevent the localization of pixel dislocation in the composite image, as would occur if images are combined according to the amount of dislocation at one characteristic point. |
