PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the brightness on a front panel uniform in a planar fluorescent lamp. SOLUTION: This planar fluorescent lamp has a pair of electrodes 4, 40 conducting discharge faced inside a back panel 3 whose top opening is covered with a front panel 2. The back surface of the front panel 2 and the surface of the back panel 3 are coated with phosphors 5, 50, and a plurality of supports 30, 30 preventing the bending deformation or breakage caused by applied pressure to the front panel are installed. A light transmission region 6 constituted by arranging many micro peeling off parts 60, 60 formed by removing the phosphor 5 is formed in a portion facing the supports 30 on the back surface of the front panel 2. The support 30 is formed in a tapered shape toward the tip facing the front panel 2.
