PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption during standby and during speech in a CDMA mobile terminal. SOLUTION: The terminal has a processor 104 for specifying the cell, to which the mobile terminal belongs, using a signal from a base station to grasp a cell to be monitored, a memory 105 for storing spreading codes and synchronous timing information for each cell, and a cell search section 103 for despreading a received signal, using the spreading codes and the synchronous timing information to measure signal intensity. For the cell, for which a spreading code and synchronous timing information are stored in the memory 105 out of the cells to be monitored, the section 103 despreads the received signal, by using the spreading code and the synchronous timing information stored in the memory 105 to measure signal intensity. If the signal intensity is not less than a prescribed threshold, the processor 104 updates the spreading code and the synchronous timing information about the cell stored in the memory 105. If the signal intensity is less than the prescribed threshold, the processor 104 deletes the spreading code and the synchronous timing information about the cell stored in the memory 105. |
