摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magneto-optical recording medium in which magnetically induced super resolution reproduction is enabled by completely masking an mark adjacent to a mark to be reproduced. SOLUTION: This magneto-optical recording medium is provided with a transparent substrate 14, a magnetic reproducing layer 18' laminated on the transparent substrate 14, a magnetic control layer 20' laminated on the magnetic reproducing layer 18' and a magnetic recording layer 22 laminated on the magnetic control layer 20'. The magnetic reproducing layer 18' has an axis of easy magnetization vertical to the surface of a film in room temperature. The magnetic control layer 20' has an axis of easy magnetization in an intrasurface direction in room temperature and the magnetic recording layer 22 has an axis of easy magnetization in the vertical direction. A low temperature area, in which the magnetization of the reproducing layer 18' is turned vertical, an intermediate temperature area, in which the magnetization of the recording layer 22 is transferred through the control layer 20' to the reproducing layer 18' by exchange coupling, and the area of a higher temperature than Curie temperature of the control layer 20' are formed inside a laser spot by radiating a prescribed reproducing power. In the low temperature area and the high temperature area, up spin masks are formed and between both the masks, an opening is formed for reading out a magneto-optical signal.
