PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling data writing speed to an optical disk according to the state of an optical disk, and an optical disk unit having the same. SOLUTION: In the method for controlling the data writing speed to the optical disk unit 20 an analyzing means 24 analyzes a wobble signal read by an optical pickup 22, and when it is detected that the number of read errors of the wobble signal in a fixed period exceeds the prescribed number, a writing speed control means 26 carries out control so as not to change the data writing speed when an address on an optical disk 10 reaches a predetermined address to change the data writing speed.
