PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic part mounting system and an electronic part mounting method for mounting electronic parts enabling correct recognition at a low cost of the installed state of a suction nozzle. SOLUTION: In this system, an electronic part is picked up and mounted on a substrate by a vacuum suction nozzle 10 removably installed on the mount 8b of a unit transfer head 8a. At a nozzle replacement section, suction is exerted for changing the nozzle 10 to be installed on the mount 8b and, during this vacuum suction process, the degree of vacuum is measured by a vacuum sensor 12 arranged in a vacuum suction circuit. Then the state of the nozzle 10 installed on the mount 8b is evaluated based on the outcome of the degree of vacuum measurement. The state of the nozzle 10 is now correctly recognized at a low cost without the need of a multiplicity of sensors arranged at the nozzle replacement section.
