CONTROLLER FOR PLANAR DISPLAY PANEL AND ITS DRIVING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a controller of a planar display panel capable of controlling gradation by performing switching control separately to an independent individual electrode for every display cell of a planar display panel capable of performing individual drive for every display cell and its driving method. SOLUTION: This controller is provided with a driving circuit for performing gradation displaying by changing luminance by the number of pulses to be applied to an individual electrode in a unit time with respect to the planar display panel provided with common electrodes for driving collectively entire display cells constituting a display screen or driving partially arbitrary display cells and individual electrodes for performing individual drive for every one cell of the display cells and, as a result, the controller controls gradation by performing the switching control separately to the independent electrode for every display cell.
