PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid blurred images of the iris by fixing the visual line of a subject to be authenticated when picking up an image of the subject's iris. SOLUTION: This iris image pickup device includes a dent 41 provided in an outer panel covering an image pickup means picking up images of the iris of the subject to be authenticated, with the dent recessed in the direction of the visual line of the subject; display means 45, 46 and 47 aligned on the bottom surface of the dent 41 along the direction of the visual line; external display means 42, 43 and 44 positioned around the outside of the dent 41; and a control means for controlling the lighting of the display means 45, 46 and 47 and for turning off the external display means 42, 43 and 44 during a period in which the image pickup means pick up images at the same timing. Since the external display means 43, 43 and 44 are turned off, the subject will not direct his visual line to the external display means 42, 43, 44, enabling an unblurred image of the iris to be picked up. |
