PURPOSE: A random sprocket for reducing tension is provided to decrease tension applied to a chain in operating the system, and to reduce noise generated in engaging the chain with the sprocket by concentrating the maximum chain tension with forming proper pattern and radius in the sprocket. CONSTITUTION: A chain(80) has links(82) mutually connected by a pin(84), and a sprocket(30) has a root(34) arranged between a plurality of teeth(32) apart in the circumferential direction and each adjacent tooth. Each root has root radiuses(R1,R2,R3) defined by the distance from the center of the sprocket in the radial direction to a point on the root nearest to the center of the sprocket. The first/second root radii R3, R2 are arranged in a pattern that is effective to redistribute the tension acting from the sprocket to the chain to previously set one or more of the sprocket order.
