PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backup unit in which backup pins do not damage a mounting component without necessity of a complicate work such as selectively standing the pins on a base plate to meet the component disposition on the lower surface of the board. SOLUTION: The backup unit for the printed board comprises a plurality of backup members 15 supported in a predetermined array on one side surface of the base plate 12. The member 15 has a cylindrical part 16 fixed to the one side surface of the base plate, a pin 17 supported retractably in a direction perpendicular to the surface of the plate base by the cylindrical part, and sensors 20, 21 for sensing the protruding or retracting state of the pin. The backup unit further comprises a dive means 18 for supplying a pneumatic pressure to the cylindrical part to protrude or retract the pins, and a controller 22 for deciding the protruding or retracting state of the pin based on the detection signal from the sensors to store it. |
