PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote color proof system that reduces the cost required for a calibration process such as color calibration. SOLUTION: An electronic original creating system 1 transmits color image data of a calibration object to an edit instruction system 2. The edit instruction system 2 displays the color image data on a display device or the like and an editor calibrates corrected parts and instructs a correction method. A calibrated layer generating section 25 generates a calibrated layer other than the color image data on the basis of a calibration instruction from the editor. Then the generating section 25 returns only the information of the calibrated layer to e.g. the electronic original creating system 1 for the correction. In this case, the information of the calibration has a considerably small data amount because the information has only to indicate the calibration instruction by the editor and is enough to be a single color and the communication cost can be reduced.
