PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an image display system reproduce a fine display image which is free of a flicker and a color blur caused by deviation in signal timing due to transmission of a component video signal from a video signal output device to a display unit, etc., while keeping compatibility with a conventional analog component video signal. SOLUTION: The image display system comprises an analog component video signal generating means (graphic card 101) equipped with a means of adding auxiliary synchronizing signal, a display unit or image processor (liquid crystal monitor 102) equipped with a means of detecting the auxiliary synchronizing signal added to an analog component video signal, a means of detecting the phase of the auxiliary synchronizing signal, and a phase adjusting means of controlling the phase of a clock signal for AD conversion of the analog component video signal with a phase detection signal of the auxiliary synchronizing signal, and an analog video signal connecting means (connection cable unit 103).
