PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an original reader that is configured to smoothly perform a work in the case that an original larger than a read size is set to an original platen and read. SOLUTION: The original platen 1 on which an original A is placed is arranged to the closer side of an upper face of a main body 2 and an operation panel 3 designed to be a separate unit from the main body is fitted to either of left and right side faces of the main body. The operation panel can be moved to a position at which the panel does not interfere with the original protruded from the main body and in particular is made movable along a guide rail 6 provided to the side face of the main body. Further, the operation panel is supported by a bracket turning itself to move the operation panel. Moreover, the operation panel is made attachable to/detachable from both the left and right sides of the main body and the direction of the operation panel is made adjustable every direction.
