PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a managing program of an external storage device for simplifying file managing work of an administrator or the like of the external storage device. SOLUTION: The managing program 460 of the external storage device manages the external storage device for storing a file or a lower directory, corresponding it to an upper directory. The managing program comprises a directory obtaining means 540 for making a computer obtain an upper directory name, and a set obtaining means 560 for making the computer obtain execution timing of a directory managing program for managing the file or the lower directory corresponded to the upper directory. The managing program also comprises a directory displaying means 550 for displaying the upper directory name obtained using the directory obtaining means 540 on a screen, and a set displaying means 570 for displaying the execution timing of the directory managing program corresponded to the upper directory on the screen on condition that the upper directory displayed by the directory displaying means 550 is selected.
