PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain high speed access by applying a large torque to a sled motor and to prevent the occurrence of abnormal situation by detecting the runaway of a servo microcomputer or abnormal rotation of sled and spindle motors. SOLUTION: In the device for controlling disk drive unit provided with a sled motor 15 for moving a pickup 5 for reading recorded data on a disk and a spindle motor 21 for rotating the disk at a required rotating speed, the torque of the sled motor is detected from a sled motor driver 14, the continuation condition of the accelerating state of each of motors is detected on the basis of the detected torques of the sled motor and the spindle motor, and the runaway of a motor control system is suppressed by the detection. Besides, the acceleration starting time of the spindle motor is delayed corresponding to the distance of the pickup to be accessed by the sled motor in access to the disk. |
