摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoelectric device capable of sufficiently preventing the invasion of moisture from outside while maintaining a high performance. SOLUTION: An insulation substrate 2 is fixed to a retaining substrate 4 larger than the substrate 2, while an insulation substrate 3 is fixed to a retaining substrate 5 equal to the retaining substrate 4 in the size thereof. The retaining substrates 4, 5 are made of a metal or a ceramic such as AIN or the like having a high heat conductivity. A frame 6 made of a ceramic such as Al2 O3 or the like for example is provided between the rims of the retaining substrates 4, 5 so as to surround a thermoelectric element group 1. The heat conductivity of the frame 6 is lower than that of the retaining substrates 4, 5 or 20 (W/(mK)) and preferably is lower than 5 (W/(mK)). On the other hand, the frame 6 is connected to the retaining substrates 4, 5 by soldering, brazing, seam welding or the like, and a connecting layer 7 is formed. In this case, a space surrounded by the retaining substrates 4, 5 and the frame 6 is filled by an inert gas such as N2 , Ar or the like, or the space is evacuated.
