PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform positioning with reliability when a coil segment is inserted into a stator core in a process of manufacturing a rotating electric machine having a segment coil. SOLUTION: An insulating member 18 which insulates the stator core 10 and coil segments 12 from each other is formed integrally on the stator core. The insulating member in a slot 16 is provided with a sloped portion 20 so that the opening width wa of the slot 16 is larger on the coil segment 12 insertion side and is gradually reduced as it goes back. The insulating member has a parallel portion 22 at its further rear side so that an opening width wb is substantially equal to the width of the conductor of the coil segment 12. Positioning is performed with reliability by supporting the coil segment 12 in the parallel portion 22.
