PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce total capacity of a ROM that is for compensation for black level and white level of a digitized luminance signal. SOLUTION: This device comprises a comparator (1) that compares a digitized input luminance signal with a specified threshold, a first switching means (2) that selects one out of the input luminance signal and a data created by inverting the input luminance signal with a NOT gate (3), a ROM (4), a multiplier (5) that multiplies an output signal of the ROM (4) and a weighted signal together to output the result of multiplication as a compensation value, a subtracter (6) that subtracts the compensation value from the input luminance signal, an adder (7) that adds the compensation value to the input luminance signal, and a second switching means (8) that selects one out of the output of the subtracter (6) and that of the adder (7).
