PURPOSE: A data backup method is provided to make backup of data at a server over the internet by using a screen saver or to make backup of data at a preset memory of a computer system by using a screen saver while the computer system is not operated. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises several steps. Users are collected, IDs are allotted and the data on the collected users are stored at a database(S10). A data storage space is allotted to the users, and a screen saver storing the ID is offered to the user(S20). The screen saver is installed at a user computer, and is activated(S30). Then backup target data is searched under a control of the activated screen saver(S40). In a case that the backup target data is searched, the data backup server is connected, the backup target data is transmitted to the data backup server, the user ID is checked, and the transmitted backup target data is stored at an alloted storage(S50). In a case that the backup target data needs more space, an additional storage space is alloted, and the user is notified of the additional space allotment(S60).
