PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for detecting a communication fault so as to specify another control device generating a fault and quickly execute suitable processing when executing mutual communication control. SOLUTION: An ECU 1 connected to a CAN bus line 5 together with ECUs 2 to 4 sets up down-count time for counting down time up to the detection of communication data of the shortest period which are sent from the ECUs 2 to 4 to the bus line 5 in a communication period time counting timer RAM in each communication node, and when the contents of the timer RAM are turned to '0', stores 'fault information' in a communication fault definition RAM of each communication node.
