PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power converter which is capable of power regeneration, excellent in overload tolerance, and high efficiency at a low cost. SOLUTION: This power converter comprises a diode rectifier (REC) for power of which the AC terminal is connected to an AC power supply through an AC reactor (Ls), a voltage type self-exciting power converter (CNV) of which the AC terminal is directly connected to the AC terminal of the diode rectifier for power, and a DC smoothing capacitor (Cd) which is connected to a DC common terminal of the voltage type self-exciting power converter (CNV) and the diode rectifier for power through a current suppressing reactor (Lp) and connects a load apparatus (LOAD) in parallel. |
