PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve stable pulse characteristics and high reliability, capable of instantaneous starting or restarting of a discharge lamp without using a discharge gap element at primary side of a pulse transformer. SOLUTION: The starting device for discharge lamp lighting comprises a direct current power source E1, a transformer T11 to the primary side of which, electric power is supplied from the direct current power source E1, a switch S1 mounted to a path supplying electric power from the direct current power source E1 to the primary side of the transformer T11, a transformer T21 of which, the primary side is connected to the secondary side of the transformer T11 in parallel, and to the secondary side which, a discharge lamp La is connected, and a charging/discharging capacitor C serially connected to the secondary side of the transformer T11. |
