PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-stopping tape for a cable with an excellent water- stopping capability which can be utilized not only for a large gap such as at a metal corrugated cable region but also for a submarine cable on which high water pressure is applied, through improvement of at least one sheet of semi- conductive or insulating cover material cloth, in case of one made of a semi- conductive or insulating water-absorbing layer sandwiched between two sheets of semi-conductive or insulating cloths. SOLUTION: A cloth with 5% modulus characteristics of not more than 0.200 kg per 50 mm width of a sample collected at 45 deg. against the length direction of the cloth is used as a conductive or insulating cloth. |
