PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage battery excellent in durability of its separator, and having a long battery service life and an excellent battery characteristic. SOLUTION: This storage battery is provided with positive and negative electrode plates and a bag-like separator formed of a resin sheet with one end opened. At least one of the electrode plates is packed in the separator. The storage battery is characterized in that when the width of the electrode plate packed in the separator is assumed to be D, both end parts corresponding to the range up to 0.02D at the maximum from an end of the electrode plate within the sheet constituting the separator are thickly formed.
