PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device and a method for controlling a printing system capable of enabling a printing operation even in a state with the possibility of taking a photograph. SOLUTION: This imaging device capable of outputting an image imaged by an imaging means to a printer is provided with a control means for an image processing method for an image signal outputted from the imaging means for being printed by the printer so that the image processing method may be different between when the imaging device is in a photographing mode and when a camera is in a reproducing mode. The control means performs all color processing conversion needed by the printer within the camera, and then, transmits data to the printer at a prescribed timing in an image processing method when the imaging device is in the photographing mode.
