The present invention relates to compositions and methods for stimulating enhanced mucosal immune responses in vivo. Particularly, the present inventi on relates to lipid-nucleic acids ("LNA") formulations and methods of using thereof for stimulating enhanced mucosal immune responses in mammals. More particularly, the present invention relates to improved mucosal vaccines comprising target antigens associated with LNA formulations and methods of using thereof that stimulate antigen-specific mucosal immune responses in mammals.
