The protective glove (1) is composed of a number of layers to withstand heat and mechanical impacts. The upper section and the palm section are bonded together at their side edges, and the thumb (30) is secured to the palm. A padded layer (12a,12b) gives the protective shrouding, with an inner padded layer (13a,13b) against the hand. The glove has a cuff (5) at the wrist opening. The protective padded layer is of a material which absorbs energy as a closed and/or open cell natural or synthetic foam rubber, with a Shore Hardness 00 of 40-55, a compression hardness of 35-63 kPa and a residual pressure distortion of =32%. The padded layer can withstand temperatures of 40[deg]C to 110[deg]C.
