The polishing tool has a tilting polishing dish (2), which is held by a sleeve (8) forming an air cushion (3). This enables the dish to tilt about a point in or near the polishing surface, with little or no side offset. The polishing dish has a rigid baseplate (5), which has a polishing lining on one side, and a yielding cushion on a holder on the other side.
