The machine for forming reels of thermoplastic sheet (11) on a drum (40) has a pressure roller (38) which rests against the surface of the reel during winding and a cutter blade (19) which cuts the sheet when reels are to be changed. Electrodes (12) are mounted below the blade and both are attached to the end of a lever system (8, 20) connected to the pressure roller mounting (21, 25, 30), so that the electrodes remain at a constant distance form the sheet, regardless of the size of the reel.
