The self stacking belt (2) for a spiral conveyor (1) has cross members and connecting components. The connecting components have two construction elements, the first of which is a tension element facing the inner side of the belt, and the second a support element facing the outer side of the belt. The tension elements are constructed in such a way that adjacent tension elements are overlap-free in the folded state of the belt. Each support element is rigidly connected to two cross members. An independent claim is included for a spiral conveyor for the handling of especially foodstuffs, and which is equipped with the proposed self-stacking belt.
