In a multi-carrier/DS-CDMA, various information signals are efficiently transmitted by utilizing the characteristics of the multi-carrier. In the upstream link transmission from each of the plurality of mobile stations to a base station, a preamble is transmitted to the base station prior to transmission of an information symbol series. Each of the mobile stations independently selects a carrier from the plurality of carriers and repeatedly transmits the preamble by the selected carrier until a preamble reception acknowledgement signal is received from the base station before reaching a predetermined upper limit of the transmission count. Each of the mobile stations changes the transmission power used for transmission for each of the carriers.
