Wheel brake comprises a brake body, especially a brake disk (1), rotating with the wheel (3), and at least one brake pad (2) with a pad lining (22) containing ceramic material which presses against the brake body and does not rotate with the wheel. An Independent claim is also included for the production of the above wheel brake. Preferred Features: Only the pad lining contains ceramic material and the rear plate (23) of the brake pad is made especially of metal. The disk lining (21) is made of a softer material than the pad lining, especially an organic material such as the pad linings for conventional gray cast iron brake disks. The base body (1a) of the brake disk is especially made of metal, preferably a steel material, especially gray cast iron.
