The invention relates to a service (6) that forms groups from subscribers (7a-7g) to a communication network (1) by means of data sets allocated to the subscribers which are available within the communication network (1). The identifications of the subscribers (7a-7g) are filed in fields of the data sets. The service (6) automatically checks selected fields of the data sets for identical identifications and automatically groups those subscribers (7a-7g) that have identical identifications in the selected fields.
