Portable respiration measurement system gives a direct and non-contact measurement of a subject's movement speed, with the measurement signals transmitted to the signal processor to calculate the patient's strength. It has a gas flow/volume sensor (2), and sensors (4,5) to register the CO2/O2 concentration in the breathing gas. The assembly also includes a telemetry module, a signal processing unit and a computer assisted base station with a radio link to the telemetry module. The portable system gives a direct and non-contact measurement of the subject's movement speed, with the measurement signals transmitted to the signal processor to calculate the patient's strength. The measurement unit also includes a high frequency detector and a multi-channel ECG module.
