PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provided a damper especially suitable for an accelerator pedal device for an automobile capable of being compactly arranged around a rotary member and providing resistant force gradually increasing substantially proportionally to rotation of the rotary member, and surely returning the rotatary member to an initial position even if friction resistance gets extremely high. SOLUTION: The damper 2 is provided with a bracket 14 forming a wedge space 11 and inclined surfaces 12, 13 regulating the wedge space 11, friction members 17, 18 including inclined surfaces 15, 16 slidably surface-contacting with the inclined surfaces 12, 13 respectively, an elastic body 19 arranged between the friction members 17 and 18, a rotating body 3 separatably contacting with the friction members 17, 18 to push the friction members 17, 18 into a narrow side 20 of the wedge space 11, and an elastic return means 21 returning the rotating body to an initial rotation position.
