PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting method without causing a cutting lag in shape cutting with the use of an automatic plasma cutting machine. SOLUTION: In the shape-cutting method for cutting a material into an article of a prescribed shape by using the automatic plasma cutting machine that moves along a surface plate (1). At the starting point of the cutting, a plasma cutting torch (10) is controlled so that its axial center (P) is vertical to the material (R) to be cut with piercing performed. After the completion of the piercing, during a cutting operation until the completion of cutting, the axial center (P) of the cutting torch (10) is tilted in the manner that the plasma injecting direction is faced forward in the advancing direction (F) of the cutting operation.
