<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preceding-vehicle detector by which a preceding vehicle can be detected with high accuracy even when a curved road exists in the running road of an own vehicle. SOLUTION: In the preceding-vehicle detector, a plurality of electromagnetic waves whose irradiation angles are different are irradiated toward the front of the own vehicle, the electromagnetic waves reflected by an object at the front are received, and whether the preceding vehicle running at the front of the own vehicle exists within an own lane area is detected. The detector comprises a road-shape estimation means by which a road shape at the front of the own vehicle is estimated on the basis of the received electromagnetic waves, and detection data on the preceding vehicle is corrected on the basis of data on the road shape estimated by the road-shape estimation means.</p> |
