METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING CARBON FIBER BASE MATERIAL, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING PREFORM, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING COMPOSITE MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain with good productivity a composite material with good impregnation with a resin and excellent mechanical characteristics and more practically, to provide a method for manufacturing a carbon fiber base material with excellent handling properties and mechanical characteristics, a preform made by laminating it and a composite material made by impregnating the preform with a matrix resin. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the carbon fiber base material comprises at least the following processes (A)-(C). A fabric manufacturing process (A) in which a fabric is formed by using a carbon fiber with a tensile elasticity of at least 210 GPa and a breaking strain energy of at least 40 MJ/m<3> and being substantially continuous. A coating process (B) in which the surface of the fabric is continuously coated and stuck with the first resin in a range of 0.1-10 pts.wt. to the fabric of 100 pts.wt. A cooling process (C) in which the fabric stuck with the first resin is cooled to a lower temperature than the melting point of the first resin or the flow starting temperature of the first resin.
